Onion Planting Skills Put to the test

Today we didn't take too many pictures because we were all working so hard, we fixed and planted an entire bed of onions, watered, pulled weeds, moved wood chips, and Kona planted his garden too. 

Yesterday we delived 14 pounds of veggies to the Women's shelter also.

Our class is clicking along quite nicely and we got two new awesome class mates: Hunter and Coree.

Way to go guys.

Sunny Monday we went about our normal chores of weeding, harvesting, moving dirt, photography, harvesting seeds and watering. Not the most exciting day but we liked being outside and enjoying the fall weather.

Indoor Work Catch Up

Today we filled out our weekly work log sheets.
We also set up our schedule for next week!

Monday: Soil/Wood Chip pile clean up, and weeding beds/harvesting/watering
Tuesday: Pothole Fixing for Soccer team in field, Regular Garden Chores
Wednesday: Blog Tutorial and Seminar
Thursday: Planting Clinic
Friday: Salsa and Smoothie Party!

We are also reading the book Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman. We like it so much we decided that we want to write our own version of it for our garden!

Lastly, we think that we are going to take over the old construction classroom and make it our indoor rainy day work space which is really exciting!

Independent Work Day

Today everyone picked their own jobs, executed their own to do lists, and worked really well all on their own! so amazing to have a class so great!

Taking Care of Bidnass!

Today was free work day number two and the Team kicked some butt. Two full beds got weeded, an entire 2 gallon bag of tomatoes got picked, garden got watered, cilantro, spinach, and pea seeds collected, here are some photos of us doing our THANG.

Killing The Weeds

Today we learned about different kinds of weeds common to our garden, how they live and work, and how to destroy them and their families hehehee. Then we went outside and got some practice pulling weeds and made a lot of progress in only 20 minutes. Tomorrow we will clean up our mess, harvest some veggies, water and clean up our soil piles.

Introducing Fall 2012 Garden Elective Class!

Our first day of the new year outside and already we are making progress. Friday we went outside and enjoyed the sun, harvested, weeded, watered and did some landscaping. Next week we have a weeding clinic, tools use seminar, and blog/photo tutorial, by next week we should be fully up and running!

The Return of the Blog August News

The blog will be slowly coming back to full everyday photo posting her in the next couple weeks as the Community Gardening Elective Class begins back up  a week from Wednesday.

Our readership directly relates to our frequency of content and this summer our readership has dropped as our content shows.

In summer news about 15 plus pounds of food has been donated per week to the local Family Renewal Shelter and many gardeners are enjoying bountiful harvests of tomatoes, lettuce, PEAS (amazing this year), beans and many other fantastic yields across the board.
